I quit the HTML Writers' Guild because.....

I quit the guild because in reading the various messages that came across my screen, I suddenly realized that some of the members, most notably the various list guides were straying from the "SPIRIT" of the guild, and instead sticking to the strict LETTER of the law of the guild.

I saw some good, exciting message threads, that may or may not have been on topic get quashed because one of the guides thought the subject was off topic for the particular list. In one case, there was a guide who stated the thread rightfully belonged on another list, and would even have recommended going to that list, EXCEPT, the list was down with unstated problems. After thinking about it some more, and reading further messages, I decided that for me to stay a part of the guild would be akin to hipocracy. Since I didn't agree with what the guides were doing, and since I had no real say-so in the matter anyway, I decided the best way for me to show my displeasure would be to resign my membership in the guild.

Since my resignation seems to have had little effect, I also thought that maybe a further step would be to put up this page and explain my reasons for everyone to see. So, here it is.
